National Charity League Juniors + DIY LBD

Last night I attended my first National Charity League Juniors in Ventura County.  I’m so excited to be a part of a group with amazing women/moms that give back to the community.  Last year they raised $9o,0000 for the Ventura County Medical Center for Pediatric Cancer & Blood Disease Program.  This year my goals as an local business woman is to give back to my community and to volunteer.

Are you obsessed with Pinterest?!  I am and I have found some great inspirations with fashion and food.  Two of my biggest passions.  Pinterest is wher I found Mimi G, and boy am I glad!!!!  She has inspired me to pull out my sewing machine, dust it off and go back to doing some sewing projects.  Today’s post was inspired by her LBD.

I couldn’t find the pattern, so on Mother’s Day I treated myself to a trip to Joanne Fabrics.  Here is what I found.

And here is what I made.

Dress:: DIY – Pattern Simplicity 2406 – Cynthia Rowley

Shoes:: Target – Old Ankle Booties

Accessories:: Stella & Dot – Palamino Necklace

Maxi & Turquoise:: Inspiration Mimi G Style

Don’t you love Pinterest!  For those of you that don’t know about it, proceed with caution…it will take up a lot of your time.  I was going through it this weekend and came across a really stylish outfit that I fell in love.  Curiosity brought me to Mimi G Style.  Amazing fashionista and seamstress!  She has inspired me to breakout my sewing machine.  Where will I find the time!!!  Best part of her blog, she has DIY tutorials.

Here is my inspired look.  I’m hoping that I can make the maxi skirt in the next 3 weeks.  Stay tuned for more.

Statement Necklaces :: “What do I wear that with?”

When I am with clients or guests a trunk show and they fall in love with a statement necklace, they often say “that looks great but I could never get away with that.”  Why are women afraid to wear a statement necklace?  Statement necklaces look great with a t-shirt, it’s a great way to sass up your jeans a t-shirt look!  A statement necklace pairs especially well with a solid dress or sweater.  It can also be your pop of color to a neutral outfit.  Having the hair pulled away from the face always puts extra focus on your bold jewelry as well.  It’s best to keep ALL other jewelry simple, the ultimate goal is balanced glamour. Statement necklaces aren’t just for cocktail dresses.  They are such a versatile piece and should be a part of your jewelry wardrobe basics.
